December 24 2025

On March 4, 3, the 23th batch of 13 students of the Top Athlete Discovery and Development Project, which was certified, started the “Sports-Specific Program”.

During the ``competition experience program'' conducted during the selection process in the first year, participants narrow down the competitions they would like to participate in from a total of seven sports. The second-year students who have been certified as the 1th batch of students engage in practical training mainly on Saturdays, Sundays, and during summer vacation in the ``sport-specific specialized program,'' where they learn the skills necessary for one sport of their choice.

We have recently implemented a ``Specialized Competition Program'' for students to learn competitive archery techniques, and we would like to introduce you to the program.

 Venue: Edogawa General Gymnasium

Archery programs are held at archery ranges such as gymnasiums and parks in Tokyo. In this program, we made extensive use of the archery range at the Edogawa General Gymnasium, where athletes and coaches practiced closely in a near-one-on-one manner.

When the athletes arrived at the archery range, they first assembled and fine-tuned their equipment. In archery, the length of the bow and arrow used differs depending on the individual's height and arm length, and various tools are used, such as ``tabs'' to protect the fingertips that pull the string and ``stabilizers'' to prevent vibration. Therefore, it is extremely important for each player to have a thorough understanding of the equipment and be able to make fine adjustments to suit himself, taking into account the sensations in his fingertips and the conditions that day.On the other hand, it is fun to be able to customize the colors of the tools used to your liking, which may be one of the attractions of the competition.

When practice began, the atmosphere changed completely, with each player creating their own rhythm and shooting arrows in a quiet space.During practice, we start by warming up and gradually move away to a distance of 30 meters, but no matter how close the distance to the target is, we take thorough safety precautions such as calling out to the target when going to retrieve the arrow. It was.

At the end of practice, each student shot 30 sets of 6 arrows from a distance of 6 meters, simulating a competition, and recorded the scores in their own score notebooks. While scoring, I analyzed my own habits and applied them to the next set, and instead of shooting blindly, I saw many situations in which I adjusted my breathing and readjusted my stance if my movements or rhythm were disrupted, allowing me to practice more realistically. I felt that I had acquired the attitude of working independently.
