rugby exchange match

On the first day, a rugby exchange match was held at Kamaishi Unosumai Fukko Stadium, the venue for the Rugby World Cup 1 in Japan. This is a round-robin competition between teams from each prefecture, with teams from other prefectures having little opportunity to play against each other. The players played energetically and happily on the beautifully maintained hybrid natural grass field.

Earthquake disaster learning at Miraikan Connecting Lives, etc.

Earthquake disaster learning was held at Kamaishi Unosumai Recovery Stadium and Miraikan Connecting Life.

The Kamaishi Unosumai Recovery Stadium was built as a symbol of reconstruction on the site of the former Unosumai Elementary School and the former Kamaishi Higashi Junior High School, both of which were damaged in the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. On the day of the earthquake, the Unosumai area suffered major damage and many people lost their lives. On the other hand, the children at Unosumai Elementary School and Kamaishi Higashi Junior High School quickly denounced the incident and escaped the disaster. The players heard stories from staff members who had experienced the earthquake and learned about the events that occurred at the time. One player who spoke said, ``I learned a lot by learning how the children protected themselves.''

Attractive experience of Iwate Prefecture (Local produce barbecue at Nehama)

A barbecue using fresh seafood (scallops) and local ingredients from Iwate Prefecture encouraged interaction beyond team boundaries.Unfortunately, due to the rainy weather, we had to eat inside the rest house, but we formed a group with athletes from all four prefectures, and we became friends as we ate together.

rugby clinic

On the second day, we moved to Morioka Minami Park Stadium (Iwagin Stadium) where we held a rugby clinic and watched a rugby match.

In the morning, we held a rugby clinic with the cooperation of Kamaishi Seawaves RFC players and staff.Although the content focused on ball handling and decision-making, the instruction from current top players was also a good learning opportunity for the children. We heard comments from the children, such as, ``The players taught me the tricks and it was easy to understand,'' and ``I was able to find a problem.''

Watching a rugby match

In the afternoon, we watched the match between Kamaishi Seawaves RFC and Hino Red Dolphins (IBC Cup).

When the players entered, we welcomed them with a flower path.It was a great experience to watch the players concentrate up close in preparation for the match.

When the match started, I was very excited to see the top players doing their best and playing powerfully.
