Tokyo is the first city in the same city to host the Summer Paralympic Games for the second time.

What is the Paralympics?

The Paralympic Games are another Olympics for people with disabilities. It is held once every four years at the same location immediately after the end of the Olympic Games. The 4th Paralympic Games (London, UK) in 2012 featured 14 sports, with approximately 20 participants from 164 countries and regions, the largest number ever.
In order to participate in the Paralympic Games, athletes must pass strict selection criteria set by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).With each successive event, the number of athletes has increased and the level of competition has become higher, with 448 event records and 304 world records set at the Athens Games.
