Training room/gym
In the training room and gym, we offer rehabilitation and training tailored to your goals. There are a variety of people, including those who do it at a slow pace, and those who aim to improve their competitive level.
Key points for handling each failure
Visually impairedin the case of:
“Let me show you around the facility and check the situation.”
- First, please guide me through the placement of equipment etc.If it is difficult to explain how to use the equipment, it will be easier to visualize it if you show the actual form and have the child touch it.
- Ideas such as putting tape on the floor to show flow lines, color-coding equipment spaces and aisles, and changing the materials of equipment and aisles will help you understand the location of equipment and make it easier to use.
- Adding cushioning material to the equipment itself will help cushion the impact in the event of a collision.
Visual impairment and sports

The equipment area is fenced off with tape, and the entrance to each machine is also marked.
Deaf personin the case of:
“It is important to communicate information such as rules and usage instructions.”
- Explain the tools and rules for use in an easy-to-understand manner.
- If the staff wants to convey something to the user themselves, even if they are unable to use sign language, they can do so through verbal or written communication. It is convenient to have equipment for writing communication available in the facility.
Hearing loss and sports
Physically handicappedin the case of:
"Let's try using equipment and making better movements."
- Consider together with the user whether the equipment provided can be used. Each one has a different range of movement, so it's a good idea to be creative.
- If you are a wheelchair user, there is no problem as long as you can transfer to the equipment.
- If it is difficult to use equipment, it would be helpful to be able to give advice on similar training or movements that can achieve similar effects.
- It is important for people who perform training as part of their rehabilitation to pay attention to the content and amount of exercise.
Physical disabilities and sports ~Standing~
Physical disabilities and sports ~Wheelchair users~
Intellectually Handicapped Individualin the case of:
"Let's do what we want to do and what we can do."
- It's a good idea to start with something you'd like to try, while checking the user's understanding and likes and dislikes of exercise.
- It would be a good idea to provide training methods that suit your goals, such as weight loss or muscle gain.
- It is effective to first get used to the environment and then try to understand the training to be carried out.
Intellectual disability and sports
Persons with internal disabilitiesin the case of:
"Let's check your physical condition management/exercise method"
- Make sure you are able to exercise by adjusting the exercise intensity and time with your doctor's permission.
- When doing strength training, it is also important to check things like blood pressure.Let's explain the characteristics of the exercise in advance.
- Keep a blood pressure measuring machine near your gym or sports hall so that you can measure your blood pressure at any time.
Internal disorders and sports

Surrounding the equipment with tape is a consideration to help visually impaired people recognize the installation location.
Mentally handicapped individualin the case of:
"Check your medication and physical condition, and provide thorough explanations to relieve your anxiety."
- Make sure to check your medication, exercise level, and whether you are taking breaks. It would be good if you could give advice on how to continue exercising at a reasonable level.
- It is important to slowly and carefully explain the rules and how to use the equipment, and to take care to alleviate any concerns you may have about using a new facility.

Making your own cane holder
If a person who is blind or physically impaired uses the machine, they will need a place to put their cane. You don't need special equipment; you can also make your own using cardboard or sponge.

Easy to use equipment with added benefits
Depending on the location and severity of the injury, it may be difficult to use regular training machines as is.You can make it easier to use by adding small appliances and tools, so please listen to the voices of users and make improvements.

A stepping stone to ease the transition

Urethane auxiliary gloves that support people with weak grip strength.

Rope shaped like an escort runner on the handrail of a running machine

A removable footrest is installed on the leg press to support leg strength.

A tall stretching table that allows you to stretch while sitting or lying down (Meguro Civic Center Gymnasium)

Safe use with advance hearing
Before using a machine, I think all users, not just people with disabilities, should be explained how to use it, but when a person with a disability is using the machine, we ask them about the degree of their disability in advance and explain what they can and cannot do. The trainer must decide.
●[Nerima Ward Hikarigaoka Gymnasium]
To date, we have never turned away first-time users at the time of inquiry or visit.Depending on the disability, such as the use of a pacemaker, the trainer may decide whether or not to use the training machine and may restrict its use.In addition, an outside doctor comes to the training room two or three times a month, so users can receive opinions about exercise from both the facility's trainers and doctors.
