Shower
Showers can be made easier to use with a little ingenuity and consideration. It is also important to take measures such as temperature control and consideration for the fact that it is difficult to reach or maintain a standing position.
Response and consideration for people who have trouble using the shower
Visually impaired/intellectually disabledin the case of:
"I don't know how to use the shower"
"I don't know how to adjust the temperature" etc.
- Explain how to use it during orientation before use.If you do not want to adjust the temperature and use it at a constant temperature, it is a good idea to check the temperature setting when making your rounds.
Points for implementing general orientation for persons with disabilities
Physically disabled persons (standing) and internally disabled personsin the case of:
"It's difficult to take a shower in a standing position."
"I'm afraid of slipping" etc.
- It is convenient to have a shower chair. If you don't have a shower chair, you can also use a pipe chair. It would also be better to have a bath mat for those who sit on the floor.
Physically disabled person (wheelchair)in the case of:
"The shower head is so high that I can't reach it."
- Try to install the head on the lower side of the shower rack.It is a good idea to check this when making your rounds.
Difficult to regulate body temperatureoccasion:
“My disability makes it difficult for me to regulate my body temperature, making it difficult for me to stay warm,” etc.
- It may be difficult for your child to warm up due to a disability, so be sure to adjust the temperature of the shower or show them where to go to the warming room.
Ideas at the facility
Shower head in a low position
People with physical disabilities who use the shower while seated cannot reach the shower head if it is in a high position. Therefore, please always remind other users to hang your clothes in a low position, and check them when you are patrolling.

Encourage consideration by writing a cautionary note to hang it in a low position.
Eliminate steps with drainboards and prevent bedsores with bath mats
If there is a step in the shower room, there is a way to eliminate the step by placing something like a drainboard. Also, by placing a bath mat, your butt will not come into direct contact with the floor or chair, making it safe for people who are prone to bedsores.
