Business

Business overview

Exercise and sports are recognized to have various benefits for people with disabilities, such as improving their health, having fun, interacting with peers, and participating in society. Therefore, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has started a project in fiscal year 2023 to send instructors to welfare facilities and other facilities to regularly implement exercise programs for people with disabilities, with the aim of helping them develop exercise habits. This project aims to enable people to enjoy exercise and sports on a daily basis in their communities by stepping up from exercise at welfare facilities, which are a place for people to hang out during the day, to exercise at local gymnasiums.

Message

  • Exercise instructors are dispatched to welfare facilities to conduct regular exercise programs (approximately once a month/total of eight sessions).
  • Once residents become accustomed to exercising within the welfare facility, they will begin exercising at local sports facilities.
  • Facility staff will also participate in the exercise program, providing an opportunity for them to learn exercise instruction know-how through practice.
  • We plan to have volunteers, mainly sports promotion committee members and others who are involved in sports activities in the local area, help support the exercise program.
