The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has awarded the Tokyo Metropolitan Honor Award and the Metropolitan Sports Award in recognition of the achievements of athletes who live, work, or study in Tokyo and are connected to Tokyo, who participated in the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games and gave bright dreams, hopes, and vitality to the people of Tokyo. An awards ceremony was held on June 30, 6, with Paralympic gold medalist Momoka Muraoka (alpine skiing women's giant slalom (seated)) and Paralympic silver medalist Daiki Morii (alpine skiing men's downhill (seated)) ) attended and received a certificate of commendation from Governor Koike.

The governor, who commended each athlete, said, ``It was truly amazing. It was a tournament that gave many Tokyo residents a lot of emotion and courage.'' After praising the two athletes, he said, ``Thanks to everyone's efforts, 2020 will be a great year.'' Morii stated that he was honored to receive the award and said, ``I will continue to make efforts one by one toward the 2022 Beijing Paralympic Games.I will continue to take on challenges and realize my potential in 2020 as well.'' I want to expand it," he said with enthusiasm.
Although he was unable to attend this time, Hirano, who was also the recipient of the award, said, ``I will continue to work hard towards my dreams, one step at a time,'' and Takanashi said, ``I will continue to work hard year after year, and win a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.''
