Dear players.
We would like to congratulate you on representing Tokyo at the 23rd National Sports Tournament for Persons with Disabilities, "SAGA2024."
Today, at the Tokyo delegation's inauguration ceremony, the Director-General of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Bureau of Life, Culture, Sports and Technology and the Director of the Parasports Division came to offer words of encouragement.
Thank you very much.
This year's Tokyo delegation consists of 222 athletes and 101 officials, totalling 323 people. Standing here, I can truly feel the passion of all the athletes as they prepare for the Games.
All of you here achieved outstanding results at the Tokyo Metropolitan Sports Tournament for the Disabled, held in May and June of this year, and became representatives of Tokyo.
I sincerely hope that you will do your best in the tournament at the end of this month and achieve good results as a representative. At the same time, I hope that you will deepen your interactions with athletes from all over the country through competition, make new friends, and enjoy playing sports together.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the managers, coaches, medical staff, and everyone else who supports the athletes for their cooperation this year. We hope that the athletes will achieve good results in this tournament.
The National Sports Meet for the Disabled was held in Kagoshima Prefecture last year, where 152 medals were won in individual events. In addition, there were wonderful results such as consecutive victories in team events such as women's basketball and soccer.
Let's all come together as Team Tokyo and work hard to achieve even better results than last year's Kagoshima tournament.
Message from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Chief of Mission at the 23rd National Sports Festival for the Disabled
- 2024.10.21
The Tokyo Sports Association for the Disabled is carrying out a variety of projects with the aim of "realizing a sports city in Tokyo where anyone can enjoy sports anytime, anywhere, and forever."
I think it would be wonderful if the appeal of sports for people with disabilities could be spread through the sight of all of you playing with such dedication, and if people who have never had any connection with sports before could start playing sports and develop the habit of playing sports on a daily basis.
There are about two weeks left until the tournament. Please take good care of your health so that you can fully demonstrate the results of your daily practice during the tournament. Also, I hope that the players will cooperate and encourage each other during the tournament so that we can all achieve great results.
I would like to conclude my remarks by wishing all the athletes the best of luck in the tournament.
Team Tokyo, let's do our best!
