Congratulations to everyone who has been selected to represent Tokyo at the 79th National Sports Festival, "Wata-SHIGA Shining National Sports Festival."
You have all been selected as athletes representing the 1400 million citizens of Tokyo, and in your specialized sports, you are athletes with the strength to stand out among the citizens of Tokyo. I hope you will do your best in Shiga to become number one in Japan.

Of course, winning is important. But at the same time, it's also important to win in a smart and beautiful way with fair play. I want Team Tokyo to become a presence that people say, "Team Tokyo's athletes are truly amazing," both on and off the field.
Aim to be an athlete who is not only strong, but also has personal charm.

Congratulations to all the players and coaches on your participation in the SHIGA Shining National Sports Tournament. I believe this is the result of your daily efforts and the support of many people, including the various sports organizations and the coaches of your teams.

At this year's Shiga National Sports Festival, I hope that Team Tokyo will take pride and confidence in representing Tokyo and demonstrate their full potential in each match, achieving consecutive victories.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will continue to fully support athletes and those involved in the sport who are striving to improve their competitive abilities through various initiatives, such as the National Sports Festival and training of potential athletes for the Japanese national team. We hope that as many of you as possible will go on to excel in international competitions.

Thank you for holding the team formation ceremony for our team today.
We have just received words of encouragement from Vice Governor Nakamura and Commander Yamamoto, and all of us on the team have been able to renew our determination for the National Sports Festival.

I will be competing in the boys' and girls' kata division of the Karate competition. At the Inter-High School Championships in August, I was defeated in the final by a player from Osaka, which was a disappointing result. I have used this disappointment as motivation to prepare for the National Sports Festival.
I will win the championship while remaining true to myself and believing in my teammates. And I will become a player who can perform on the world stage.
We, the Tokyo athletes, would like to fully demonstrate the results of our daily practice and put on a passionate battle that will inspire many people.

Encouraging performance

The Nippon Sport Science University cheerleading squad leader, cheerleaders, and brass band members gave a performance of encouragement.

Please support the Tokyo team.
