"City resident dodgeball tournament"

``In order to hold the resident dodgeball tournament, we received a comment introducing the tournament from the Itabashi Ward Sports Promotion Committee Council. ”

This year's 27th "Citizen Dodgeball Tournament" will be held on February 2th (Sunday) at the Itabashi Ward Azusawa Gymnasium. This tournament is held to promote the sport through dodgeball, provide an opportunity to demonstrate the results of daily practice, and improve the local community.

This tournament is co-sponsored by Itabashi Ward and the Itabashi Ward Sports Promotion Committee, and is open to elementary school students in Itabashi Ward. There is a lower grade division for 3rd and 4th grade elementary school students and an upper grade division for 5th and 6th grade elementary school students, and each year about 30 teams participate, playing about 26 games from the preliminary round to the final. Each game is fiercely fought, and the parents in the stands are cheering enthusiastically.

The Sports Promotion Committee is involved in everything from planning to operation of this tournament, and on the day they are responsible for the main referee, assistant referees, linesmen, timekeepers, recorders, etc., reception, announcements, convening, public relations, etc. to ensure that the tournament runs smoothly. .The event will be held according to the official rules of the Japan Dodgeball Association, and the Itabashi City Sports Promotion Committee will serve as the referee. In order to improve refereeing skills, we hold refereeing seminars every month at the Higashi-Itabashi Gymnasium where we review and study the rules. We also cooperate as referees in dodgeball tournaments held by various regional youth development committees.

Dodgeball tournaments are actively held in each area, and in addition to serving as referees, I also provide information on community dodgeball tournaments and work to spread the word so that as many teams as possible from each area can participate.

This dodgeball tournament is aimed at elementary school students, but for families, we also hold a walk rally tournament in the spring, and for adults, we hold a community hike (one-day bus hike) in the fall.Additionally, we are promoting the Itabashi original stretching exercise "Furusato Itabashi Exercise" in various locations within the ward.

Currently, 61 people commissioned by the ward are working as coordinators for regional sports promotion, so that residents can stay healthy and energetic through sports.

This is a place where we can communicate and share the joy of sports with the residents of the ward through sports.Events require advance preparation and study, which can be difficult, but as an organizer, being able to welcome the participants is rewarding.
I also do a lot of physical activity on a daily basis, such as dodgeball, gymnastics, and various new sports, which helps me stay very healthy.Personally, I am conscious of my role as a sports promotion committee member, and whenever I have time, I try to keep my health in mind by doing radio calisthenics and walking.

Please tell us what you are putting effort into and what you are trying to do to hold the "City Residents Dodgeball Tournament" and how you are involved as a sports promotion committee member.
