``When holding the event, we received a comment from Arakawa Ward introducing the event. ”
The Christmas Sports Challenge is aimed at elementary school students living or attending school in Arakawa Ward (5 applicants), with the theme of "A very popular event with many cancellations every year! Try out 150 sports and get a medal!" will be held at the Arakawa Sports Center on Sunday, December 12th.
This event has been held since 26 with the aim of conveying the joy of sports to elementary school students and improving their physical strength. This year, we are planning to change the name to "Christmas Sports Challenge" and renew the competition events to further enhance the content.
This time, participants will compete for the total points of five sports: "Target Boccia," "Mini Tennis Ball Carrying," "Sitting Ball Throw," "Dodgebee Long Throw," and "Jumping Rope."Athletes who place 5rd or higher in each grade will receive a certificate and medal.
Each sport has its own characteristics, and the main attraction is new sports and para sports, so anyone can aim for victory. One participant said, ``I wasn't able to do well in the race at the sports day, but I was happy to win this event and receive a gold medal.''
The Arakawa Ward Sports Promotion Committee is constantly working to popularize new sports, etc., and holds sporting events and tournaments three times a year.So far, we have popularized mini tennis, beach ball, Kimball sports, and dodgebee in Arakawa Ward.
We will continue to plan and manage events that many people can easily and happily participate in, and work to spread the promotion of health and sports not only within Arakawa Ward but throughout Tokyo. Please keep an eye on the activities of the Arakawa City Sports Promotion Committee.

This time,Yasuyuki Ito, Arakawa City Sports Promotion Committee(He has been on the sports promotion committee for 11 years), we talked about various things about the activities of the sports promotion committee and the "Christmas Sports Challenge."
Mr. Ito, thank you very much!
First of all, Mr. Ito, please tell us why you became a sports promotion committee member.
I first learned about the existence of the Sports Promotion Committee because I was a youth baseball coach.I've always loved sports of all kinds, so I started thinking that I wanted to be involved in promoting a wide range of sports, not just baseball.
What kind of activities do you usually do as a sports promotion committee member?
Twice a week, we open the physical education facilities of elementary and junior high schools to the public at night at the "Sports Plaza," where we provide guidance on various sports and manage equipment rentals.Three times a year, we host sports tournaments and events. We are mainly working to popularize new sports.
We also cooperate with events and festivals sponsored by district committees and neighborhood associations to convey the joy of sports to everyone.
Mr. Ito, what do you feel is the appeal and reward of being a sports promotion committee member while working as a sports promotion committee member?
Being able to work towards the same goal and learn from each other with people who have experience in sports in all fields.
What brings me the greatest joy is when the residents experience the joy of sports.
Please tell us about what you are putting effort into and what you have devised to hold the "Christmas Sports Challenge," and how you are involved as a sports promotion committee member.
This event puts the most effort into getting children interested in new sports and parasports. This year, we have renewed the competition events and are planning a series of meetings over the course of about two months to make it even more enjoyable for all participants.
Lastly, please give a message to the citizens of Tokyo!
In 2020, the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held in Tokyo.
Take this opportunity to get closer to sports and let's work up a sweat together!
